After winning a very questionable election in the spring, david prosser, who had called the Chief Justice a "bitch" and threatened to "destroy her", broke national news over allegations he put a fellow justice (whom was also verbally attacked in the incident mentioned above) in a chock hold.
Milwaukee's urinal-genital, journal sentinel, reports:
Sauk County District Attorney Patricia Barrett will serve as special prosecutor in the investigation of a physical altercation between two state Supreme Court justices.
There has been talk that finding a special prosecutor has been difficult. Remarkably, the article above seems to be largely free of js propaganda, so I won't add any details here. The article closes with:
Barrett was elected as a Republican, but said she has long advocated making district attorneys' positions non-partisan."Politics should play no role in what we do," she said.
Last week, the sheriff's department also provided its reports to the Wisconsin Judicial Commission, which oversees the state's ethics code for judges and is separately investigating the case. Jim Alexander, director of the commission, said there was no timeline for conducting its investigation.
If the commission found any wrongdoing, it would have to submit its findings to the Supreme Court to consider. Four of the other five justices were nearby when the incident occurred in Bradley's suite of offices in the Capitol, and the four all apparently saw or heard what happened.
I don't know where this will go or if we will see a robust investigation, but theoretically, Barrett will have a great deal of latitude as to what is investigated and have considerable power to get people to talk.
Will we see this? I don't have any special insight, but I am sure some Kossacks do.
