Dan Bice, a columnist for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, posted this sophomoric hatchet job on Fred Clark, an upstate Democrat who is running again state senator Luther Olson of Ripon.
State Rep. Fred Clark - a Democrat running in a recall election - was hit with a $6,500 bill earlier this year for failing to increase his child-support payments during his first term as a state lawmaker, records show.Clark first won his legislative seat, which pays nearly $50,000 a year, in November 2008. But only in March did Clark and his ex-wife go to court to bump up his montly support payments by $250.
The second-term lawmaker was then also ordered to pay an extra $6,500 in back child support for not turning over enough between January 2009 and this February.
Clark said last week that he paid his outstanding child-support bill, plus interest, on May 5. That was about two weeks after the Baraboo Democrat announced he was running against state Sen. Luther Olsen, a Ripon Republican, in a recall race. It is one of nine recall contests this summer.
I posted a response on the newspaper's website. You can read it below.
